Oranga Tamariki and police are still working together to find an escaped inmate from a Canterbury youth justice residence.
The youth escaped from Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo in the Selwyn district town of Rolleston earlier on Saturday.
The facility houses people aged between 14-17, who face serious charges or who have been sentenced by the Youth Court.
Earlier, police said officers were making inquiries to locate the youth who "absconded" on Saturday morning.
Oranga Tamariki deputy chief executive of youth justice services and residential care Dean Winter confirmed it was working with police to find the person.
