Labour says it will put $30 million towards a walking and cycling path across Auckland's harbour if elected.
The party's transport spokesperson, Michael Wood, made the announcement this afternoon.
The SkyPath pedestrian and cycle pathway across the Auckland Harbour Bridge was given the green light in December last year with the Environment Court granting the project its resource consent.
Mr Wood said Labour was the first to pledge money towards the SkyPath, something the incumbent National government hadn't done.
"The government has said that it supports SkyPath but has so far failed to provide any funding.
Mr Wood said the SkyPath would be good for Aucklanders' health and for the city's environment.
He said the party also planned to renew the $100m Urban Cycleways Fund for another three years and establish a new fund to encourage cycling and walking in neighbourhoods.
