The State Services Commission has cleared the Treasury of breaching political neutrality by allowing the use of a National Party slogan in a presentation this week.
The phrase "Delivering for New Zealanders" appeared in a slide show during the pre-election fiscal update by Finance Minister Steven Joyce.
The State Services Commissioner Peter Hughes said it appeared the presentation was put together using a Budget 2017 template, which included the slogan.
Commission rules require government departments to stay clear of party politics in the run-up to a general election.
But Mr Hughes said he was satisfied there was no intention to convey a political message, Treasury's political neutrality had not been compromised and no further action was required by the government watchdog.
