People in Dunedin are being asked to help an elderly couple with short-term memory loss find their pet chihuahua, which they've left in a car they can't find.

The SPCA said the couple, who live in the city, had forgotten where they parked their car, with a long-haired tan-coloured chihuahua inside.
Despite widespread searching today, there is no sign of the dog or car.
People in the wider South Dunedin area are being asked to look out for a silver Mitsubishi Colt Plus, with a small dog inside.
