The crash happened between Takanini and Papakura and about 7:30am.
The motorway was closed to all northbound vehicles, while police investigated, but reopened again a short time ago.
Traffic is already heavy in the area, with congestion back to Drury.
Motorists are being told to delay their travel or take alternative routes through Great South Road at Papakura.
