All Black Sonny Bill Williams says he feels the best he has all year.
Williams's naming in the 31-man Rugby World Cup squad yesterday has attracted some criticism, following a lacklustre international season.
But Williams believes he has had a decent season.
"I felt like I've played pretty good considering the few injuries that I've seemed to pick up this year, obviously it's been disappointing in that fact but now, not just physically but mentally feeling the best I've felt all year so just really ready to get out there and take my shot if I get it."
Williams knows it will be a challenge forcing his way into a top 15 position given how well Ma'a Nonu has been playing this year at second five-eighth but says he can get the job done.
"I'm confident that if I get that 12 jersey I'll be able to handle it just like every other player in the squad. You know we're lucky to have world class players in each position but you've just got to take your shot when you get it."
The multi-talented sportsman says heading to his second world cup is special.
He says the big driver is that no All Blacks side has won the World Cup outside of New Zealand, and no side has ever won back to back world titles.
