Sri Lanka have inflicted a heavy 140-run defeat on the Blackcaps in the final one-day cricket international in Auckland, but the Kiwis have won the series.

With the one-day series already wrapped up, the Black Caps were chasing a whitewash over tourists Sri Lanka in the final match at Eden Park on Saturday.

But New Zealand were bowled out for just 150 on Saturday, after the visitors posted an impressive 290 for eight.

Mark Chapman was the only Blackcaps batter to put up any resistance, scoring 81 off 81 balls, before being the last man out.

New Zealand won the series 2-1.
