The Blues women have created history, becoming the first side to win multiple Super Rugby Aupiki titles.

It was a pulsating final with Matatū throwing all they had at the defending champs, in a nail-biting final period, with a final second Portia Woodman-Wickliffe intercept sealing a stunning win for the Blues.

Matatū opened the scoring after just five minutes, taking a quick tap before firing it wide to Winnie Palamo who went in at the corner.

A slick set piece saw Amy Du Plessis score to put the visitors 12-0 up to stun the home crowd into silence.

They soon found their voice as Portia Woodman-Wickliffe sliced through the Matatū line to send Ruahei Demant in under the sticks.

The Blues then took the lead for the first time as powerhouse prop Chryss Viliko rumbled her way to the chalk to give her side a two-point advantage which they held until halftime.

After a sustained period on attack, Matatū finally cracked the hosts again, Kaipo Olsen-Baker barging her way over in the right corner, Hannah King nailing the extras to make it a five point buffer with 25 to play.

The lead changed hands again courtesy of a beautiful line run by Woodman-Wickliffe as she cut through and went in under the bar.

A significant moment then came with less than ten on the clock, Eloise Blackwell shown red for making direct head contact with King.

But it was the Blues who would breakout, pouncing on a stray pass, Braxton Sorensen-McGee with too much gas as she streaked 50 to score a screamer.

Some absolutely heroic defence by the Blues kept a relentless Matatū at bay, Woodman-Wickliffe with the clutch steal at the death, the home side hanging on for a thrilling and historic victory.
