With their brief Ranfurly Shield tenure over, Waikato needed to rally themselves to keep their NPC chances alive against winless North Harbour.
They kept their composure after trailing 17-21 just after half-time, and Harbour must have started to fancy their chances when a penalty try took them to a 28-17 lead.
But two tries in the space of eight minutes saw the Mooloo beat Harbour by the narrowest of margins.
