A 74-year-old woman from Devon, England, has achieved a golfing feat that most players can only dream of - sinking three holes-in-one in a month.

According to England Golf, Lyn Parry, a member of Downes Crediton Golf Club, made her trio of aces in October - a run of luck that the sporting publication estimates has odds of about 1.95 trillion to one.

Parry, who only took up golf at age 58, said her first hole-in-one this year came during her club's annual general meeting on the third hole at Downes Crediton.

"It was a sunny afternoon and the greens had just been sanded, so I didn't see it go in," she told England Golf.

"I knew it was close and when I couldn't see it, I was thinking, 'Don't tell me it's gone off the back', but no, it was in the hole."

Sixteen days later, Parry repeated the feat on the 13th hole during 'Ladies Day' at the club.

"We all looked at each other, saying, 'Has that really just gone in the hole?' There was a little bit of jumping up and down, and a photograph after that one, so it was drinks all round again," she said.

Then, on 30 October, Parry achieved her fifth career hole-in-one - and her third in a single month - while playing socially with friends at nearby Tiverton Golf Club.

"I thought it might be close, but I told myself, it doesn't happen in threes - that's just silly. Then, there it was in the hole."

England Golf championships director James Crampton called Parry's feat "astounding".

"The odds are staggering," he said. "Some people go their whole lives without getting a hole-in-one, let alone three in a month."

'You're never too old'

Parry's golfing streak comes as her handicap has improved dramatically, dropping nearly seven strokes since May.

"The gratifying thing is that my handicap has come down by nearly seven shots - and I'm old," she said. "It shows that you can never be too old."

Parry said she only took up the sport after years of listening to her husband talk about it.

"It's a great social game and you learn a lot of self-discipline, really, as it's you against the course and the course usually wins," she said.
