The Christmas - New Year holiday road toll remains at seven deaths, one more than last year.
The official holiday period ended at 6am on Friday.
The last fatality was on Thursday when a motorcycle rider was killed in a head-on crash with a ute on the Taihape-Napier Road.
Meanwhile, the condition of three of the eight people injured when their van plunged off the side of the Napier-Taupo road on Thursday was upgraded from stable to serious. They have been shifted to the high dependency unit at Hawke's Bay hospital.
A total of 254 people died on New Zealand roads last year, the lowest road toll since 1950.
