Convicted triple-murderer Erin Patterson has formally lodged documents in the Victorian Court of Appeal as she attempts to overturn her convictions.

In July, Patterson was found guilty of murdering her parents-in-law, Don and Gail Patterson, and Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson, as well as attempting to murder Heather's husband Ian Wilkinson.

She served them beef Wellingtons containing poisonous death cap mushrooms during a lunch at her Leongatha house in 2023.

Patterson's lawyers flagged her intention to lodge an appeal last month.

They say they have now lodged the necessary documents with the court, but have not revealed on what grounds they are appealing.

Patterson is serving a minimum prison sentence of 33 years and will be eligible for parole in 2056, when she would be 82 years old.

Victoria's office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has confirmed it will appeal against Patterson's sentence, arguing it was "manifestly inadequate".
