Erin Baker was simply an incredible triathlete, one of the very best ever.
She won the very first race she ever entered. By the time she retired in 1994, Erin had eight world championship titles over a variety of distances and was named Triathlete of the Decade. She even won a world duathlon title, just to keep things interesting.
Erin was as well known for her stance on equal pay for men and women in triathlon and often opted out of competitions in protest.
In 1993 Erin Baker was honoured with an MBE for services to her sport.
In January 2024 Jesse Mulligan spoke to Erin about her incredible career and asked her if he was right in thinking she went out of her way to avoid talking about her success.
