Sherry Shelton is an American-born concert organist, pianist, harpist and singer with many years of solo concerts in the USA, Australia, Europe, Singapore and New Zealand.
She has also been extensively involved in church music, working as Director of Music for several large churches in the States before moving to New Zealand in 1988 to take up the role of Music Director for the Devonport Methodist Church in Auckland.
Now 82, Shelton lives in Bluff where she has a music studio. She has a couple of concerts coming up, where she’ll be performing on the organ, piano and harp.
RNZ Concert’s Bryan Crump caught up with Sherry to talk about the concerts and the many other strings to her bow which have included being a certified sea captain (100-ton license) and owning a hotel.
