The Papua New Guinea Government has placed a ban on plastic shopping bags.
The Post Courier reports the move received mixed reactions from the private sector yesterday.
The importation, manufacturing, sale and use of non-biodegradable plastic shopping bags will be banned as of March 31.
Environment and Conser-vation Minister, Benny Allen, says in a public niotice the environment policy was enacted into a law under the Environment Act 2000.
