A Northern Marianas court has ruled that the local utility provider can cut services to non-essential parts of the commonwealth's main health facilities.

The Saipan Tribune reports that the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation was found in contempt for not complying with a court order to pay its monthly bills with the Commonwealth Utilities Corpoation now reaching a total of 14.7 million US dollars.
However the judge has deferred the execution of the sanctions by 45 days to give the healthcare corporation time to file within 10 days any objections to the list of "non-essential" hospital services.
