Relatives of the remanded Nauru opposition MP Sprent Dabwido say he is resting in hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The wife of a fellow remanded MP Squire Jeremiah says Mr Dabwido was taken to hospital on Wednesday morning after suffering breathing problems during the night.
The two MPs are among five suspended opposition MPs who are the focus of international attention amid concerns over alleged rights violations on the island.
Christine Jeremiah says she has been in contact with relatives who say Mr Dabwido is fine and is under the care of the hospital for 24 hours.
"He's got a heart condition but I don't know how serious. But he's got some other health issues as well. I believe this is not new. He's a bit sick so I believe they were expecting something like this."
