Fiji's Ministry of Health is calling on the public to take measures to combat the threat of dengue.
This comes after 143 cases of dengue were recorded in the first six weeks of the year.
The Fiji Times reported the majority of cases were in the Western Division.
The ministry said the numbers would increase if the public did not follow warnings and take preventive measures.
It wanted immediate action taken to destroy mosquito breeding places such as containers around residences containing stagnant water.
