A resort made out of dozens of trailer homes is being opposed by the Northern Marianas' tourism body, which says it goes against its aim to create a high-end destination.
The managing director of the Marianas Visitors Authority Chris Concepcion said it would be unsightly, especially with the CNMI being marketed overseas as a premium high-end beach resort destination.
He also raised safety concerns saying mobile homes are vulnerable during typhoons.
Mr Concepcion wants the regulatory agencies with oversight over such establishments to come together as one and critically analyse projects that could hamper the work his authority is doing and the government's efforts in promoting the CNMI overseas.
