Increased tourist arrivals and a recovering economy have led to a record budget in the Northern Marianas.
The budget of $US213 million dollars is the largest in CNMI's history.
The budget's enactment came just three days before the end of the fiscal year and prevented a partial government shutdown.
The governor, Ralph Torres, said the government aimed to create more jobs, issue back pay for public servants, hike salaries and increase the minimum wage.
