A dengue alert in French Polynesia has been lifted.

The alert for Type 2 dengue had been issued in mid-June after two people on the island of Raiatea had been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease.
Since then, however, there has been no further case.
The diagnosis on Raiatea was the first of its kind in French Polynesia since 2000.
Authorities said this meant that the population had little immunity against Dengue Type 2, which is more widely spread in other places in the Pacific, such as New Caledonia.
People are still being asked to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and advised to use repellents.
