The south side of Saipan, and the island of Tinian, bore the brunt of Super Typhoon Yutu two weeks ago, and moving people to evacuation centres in the north will ensure they have access to running water and electricity.

823 people are still in evacuation centres on Saipan and 48 on Tinian.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has provided 44 generators to temporarily energize the CNMI.

The generators are powering critical infrastructure on Saipan and Tinian, including pumps that deliver water to villages.

The agency also deployed a total of 261 personnel on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to offer disaster assistance, and 913 other federal agency personnel.
