The Cook Islands has appointed a New Zealand investigator to look into the death of a tourist in Rarotonga last week.

An American woman died after falling overboard last Wednesday while being transported back to a cruise ship she was travelling on.
The Transport Ministry's Marine Director, Junior Ngatokorua, said the investigation will wait until the ship returns to New Zealand.
He said he hopes the Cook Islands will be able to take lessons from the findings.
