Former American Samoa prison guard Okesene Alo has been jailed for 27 years.
Alo committed a series of offences working as a guard at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Alo was convicted of unlawful possession and intent to distribute marijuana and methamphetamine, two counts of permitting a minor to escape, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and deviant sexual assault.
Chief Justice Michael Kruse said during sentencing that the victims were young children ordered by the court to be held at the Center so they could redeem themselves and learn how to restart their lives.
But Alo had taken advantage of them and used them to perform illegal activities.
