Notorious prison escapee Tommy Baker has been urged to hand himself in by Papua New Guinea's police chief.
Baker is thought to have been wounded this week in a shootout with police near Alotau, in which two of his followers were killed.
For months, police have been unable to capture Baker, who is linked to a string of armed robberies, piracy and murder in Milne Bay province.
Police Commissioner Gari Baki has appealed to Baker and his gang to surrender, saying it was only a matter of time before they were caught.
Police will not stop until they capture all of Baker's gang so they should surrender now or risk being shot dead, the commissioner said.
No harm will come to Baker and his followers if they surrender now, he said.
