A former president of Palau, Thomas Remengesau, has died.

The country's fourth president, the 89-year old died peacefully on Saturday afternoon at his home in Koror.
Mr Remengesau led the country from 1988-1989 after the assassinations of two former presidents.
His son, Tommy Remengesau Jr, has been Palau's president since 2013.
