The French High Commission in New Caledonia has advised prospective voters that they only have until Tuesday to enrol for next year's elections and referendum.
The public is being told to check their enrolment online or to contact the local councils to be put on the general roll.
Municipal elections will be held in March which will be open to all voters.
A roll restricted to long-term residents will be used for the referendum on 6 September on independence from France.
The High Commission says people who turned 18 in 2019 or turn 18 before the September referendum will automatically be registered on the general roll.
