The return of Fiji's chief prosecutor to his office has been delayed following new allegations.

Fiji's chief prosecutor is facing fresh allegations of "misbehaviour" and will not will begin work for nearly two weeks.

Christopher Pryde was due to start work on Monday, after being cleared of other allegations and reinstated after 21 months.

A week-long investigation last month unanimously concluded that the two allegations made against him had not been "made out".

However Chief Justice Salesi Temo notified Mr Pryde last week that he was facing further allegations of misbehaviour.

The deputy director Nancy Tikoisuva reviewed his personal file after the investigation and had made a series of allegations against him.

But the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalavalu has since revoked her contract.

The prospect of establishing another tribunal to investigate Pryde remains open, according to Fiji Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka.

Speaking to FBC News, Rabuka said that the cost of such tribunals was secondary to ensuring accountability.

Pryde has rejected the new allegations and questions why they were not raised earlier.
