Porirua Mayor excited for opening of Transmission Gully at last

The long-awaited Transmission Gully motorway is due to open to the public today. An idea that was first floated in 1919, the $1.25 billion project has been riddled with delays over the years under multiple governments. The new road will cut peak journey times by up to 15 minutes between Wellington and the Kapiti Coast. Joining Nathan Rarere is Porirua Mayor Anita Baker.
