Former jockey Michael Walker on Melbourne Cup

Former New Zealand jockey Michael Walker says the Melbourne Cup was a great race to be involved in but not one that he ever got nervous about. Walker retired from racing earlier this year after suffering a brain injury following a fall. He rode in the Melbourne Cup seven times, with his best result a second in 2019. However his first attempt to get a ride in the race in 2000 could have turned out to have been a succesful one for him.
