12:15 INTERVIEW: Ladyhawke 

Ladyhawke aka Pip Brown has been wowing the music industry since she cut her teeth playing in Wellington band Two Lane Blacktop and Sydney act Teenager. She started releasing tracks as Ladyhawke in 2008, she was signed to a major label, moved to the UK, and her eponymous solo debut album made her hot property across the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.  

She toured relentlessly, and picked up multiple NZ Music Awards, ARIAs, and nominations for Brit Awards, MTV Awards, and NME Awards.

Fast forward to 2021, Ladyhawke has just released a brand new single with Broods, and a new album is on the way in September. She joins Charlotte for a chat about new music, and her incredible journey both overseas and abroad.

12:50 Hinewehi Mohi on bi-lingual music industry 

APRA NZ is joining forces with songwriters, broadcasters, funders, record labels and other music entities, to support the emergence of a bilingual music industry.

Leading APRA’s Māori music development, Hinewehi Mohi says “Whether artists are already recording and performing in Māori, or have just started their reo journey in this way, we want to celebrate their work and create more opportunity for it to be heard.

"We’re pulling together a maramataka/calendar of special events such as Matariki and Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, to create awareness and opportunity for waiata punctuations around the country, throughout 2021”.

Hinewehi joins us on the phone to discuss the importance of the new project, and introduce us to some new Māori music

2PM LIVE: Chelsea Jade 

South African born New Zealand singer/songwriter/producer Chelsea Jade has been described as “New Zealands accidental dream-pop hero’. She’s worked with The Chainsmokers, Wet, and ATTLAS as well as being nominated for the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll in 2017. 

We’re so lucky to have Chelsea Jade performing live for us, ahead of her nationwide tour.

2.30 Mogwai on reaching number one decades after their debut

Scottish band Mogwai have been releasing music since 1996, when they pioneered a genre that would become known as ‘post-rock’. This week they celebrated their first number one album in the UK for their tenth record ‘As The Love Continues’. Tony Stamp talked to guitarist Stuart Braithwaite in Glasgow about their recent success, the key to their longevity, and their “bratty” early years.

4:00 The Mixtape - Ana Scotney

Today’s guest on The Mixtape is actress, writer, director, and musician Ana Scotney. She’s a familiar face, she starred as Angel on Shortland Street, Sepa in The Breaker Uppers, and Sheena the she-wolf in What We Do In The Shadows spin-off Wellington Paranormal. Ana is of Maori (Tuhoe), German, Jewish, and Irish descent, and is a proficient speaker of Te Reo. But her list of talents doesn't stop there, Ana is also a guitar and piano player as well as a dancer! 

She has started releasing music under the moniker Kōtiro, her fresh sound incorporates modern beatboxing and Ana's amazing voice to create a vibrant cross between sound art and music.

Ana plays Mata in the brand new New Zealand film Cousins, based on the novel by Patricia Grace. She joins Charlotte for an open and honest conversation about the film, the difference between working in acting and music, and chooses her favorite songs on this episode of The Mixtape.
