Gideon Mendel - photographing a world in crisis
Photographer Gideon Mendel has spent a career traveling the globe documenting the impact of disease, floods and fire on communities. He has been documenting the impact of HIV/Aids in Africa for more than 12 years, working in 10 different countries.
Mendel photographed people returning home after the devastation of wildfires on the island of Evia in Greece in 2021 after earlier projects about people affected by wildfires in New South Wales, Australia, and flooding globally. For eight years, Gideon Mendel travelled the globe, photographing people whose lives have been devastated by floods.
