A new book by Johanna Emeney and illustrated by Sarah Laing highlights the life of Sylvia Durrant, aka The Bird Lady.
Now retired, Durrant cared for injured and lost birds for 35 years - looking after about 4000 each year from her home at Rothesay Bay on Auckland's North Shore.
