Robert Long, also known as Beansprout, has been living a remote life for over 40 years.
He and his wife Catherine live at Gorge River in Westland, a two day walk from the town of Haast.
He joins Anna to explain how living a solitary life doesn't have to be a lonely life.

Today's road trip guest may be joining us from the United States, but he's originally from Hamilton via Palmerston North.
Dr Simon Talbot is a plastic surgeon at the world-renowned Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
A pioneer in hand and arm transplantation, Simon is Director of the hospital's Upper Extremity Transplant Program and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School.
He joins Anna to chart a course, pick some tunes, and share what the year ahead holds.

10:45 Museum stop: Firth Tower and Farming Museum
Today we're in Waikato for our daily museum stop celebrating the region's rich farming and dairying history.
The Firth Tower and Farming Museum is on the Matamata Estate, covering 56,000 hectares.
It includes well-preserved heritage buildings, farming machinery and equipment and displays on the history of milking and shearing. There's also a special memorial to one of the region's celebrated rangatira.
Anna speaks with manager Vicky Kelly.

The Christchurch-based band is made up of singers and guitarists Minnie Robberds and Nat Hutton, drummer Gus Murray and bassist Joel Becker.
They started as a RockQuest band in high school in 2019 and have since become regulars on festival lineups.
They've also opened for some big international names in New Zealand and Australia.
