Prime Minister John Key plans to discuss the recently signed trade deal between China and Australia with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Mr Xi arrived late last night after attending the G20 summit in Australia, and is in the country until tomorrow afternoon.
During his visit to Australia Mr Xi signed a framework for a free trade agreement which Australia's government says is much better than New Zealand's deal with China that came into force in 2008.
Mr Key said he would raise that deal with Mr Xi, and the leaders will also talk more broadly about the economy and human rights, as well as major global issues such as the Islamic State militant group and Ebola.
