Police have named the three people who died in a horrific crash in Southland on Sunday.
They were 28-year-old couple, Jesse Philip Ariki Douglas Shortland and Samantha Jayde Shortland of Invercargill.
The woman in the other car was 22-year-old Marina Liebl of Germany.
The couple's two young children, aged eight months and two years, survived the crash on the Dipton Winton Highway.
The serious crash unit are still investigating.
The deaths come as a spate of fatal car crashes pushes up the death toll to 14 since Friday, prompting the the top road policing officer to plead for motorists to be responsible.
