One person was killed in a microlight crash in the Mackenzie district on Saturday afternoon.
The light aircraft crash was reported shortly after 5pm near the south-eastern end of the Pukaki spillway, east of Twizel.
It had been in the air since 2pm and police were notified it was overdue at about 4.20pm.
There were no other passengers on board.
