Wrestling siblings, wanted posters and bird watching - here is some of the best uplifting social media content about how the kids are holding up in lockdown.
This dad and his kids took on a creative data-gathering mission on their daily walk and then turned their information into a fancy pie chart.
Tweet! On our lockdown walk in Auckland domain my kids counted birds and we made a pie chart of their data. We all drew pictures. Ivy (7) did a good duck. Eli (8) is not one to compromise on blackbird-size. (Research not preregistered but data available on reasonable request). pic.twitter.com/DtdMlHjALR

The nation is now 16 days into some form of lockdown and at this point it would be surprising if there are any kids around the country who aren't at least a little bit fed up with being stuck at home.
While on a walk RNZ's Veronica Schmidt spotted this personal wanted sign in one home's window - Covid-19 better think twice before coming around these parts because these kids are not in the mood for another lockdown extension.

Many young children will be pent up with energy in lockdown with no mates to play with besides their siblings (if you can put them in the same bracket).
This poem written by 11-year-old Charlie Park describes the intricate hobby he's been working on in lockdown, perfecting his wrestling skills on his brother.
Although they might not *quite* be a child in stature or age, this son couldn't miss the opportunity to dress up as he took his mum to get her vaccination.

It's easy to think kids are somewhat oblivious to what's going on in the never ending world of Covid updates.
However, journalist Mihingarangi Forbes notes that alert level predictions have even crept into school kids' maths classes.
Overheard son's math lesson on "probability". Teacher says the probability of being back at school by end of term is "unlikely". Me quickly googling EOT dates

As the days turn into weeks, there's no doubt parents across the country are dreaming of a reality where their children have the same amount of energy as this baby seal.

For any parents with lockdown birthdays coming up for their children, perhaps a Covid themed cake like this one is just what you need to make your little one's special day a bit more memorable.
NZ maybe in lockdown due to Covid but a Birthday cake was still required. #covidcake #StayHomeSaveLives #CovidNZ pic.twitter.com/sPcyAkW3YP
