Police have arrested three women accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of groceries from an Auckland supermarket earlier this week.
Counties Manukau South Area Commander, Inspector Joe Hunter, said the trio were seen packing a trolley-load of groceries in duffle and rubbish bags before leaving the supermarket in Papakura on Tuesday.
He said police found the stolen items - valued at around $730 dollars - in a car and returned them to the store.
Two women, aged 24 and 26, are due to appear in Papakura District Court on Thursday, facing 18 charges between them relating to shoplifting.
A 43-year-old woman has been summoned to appear in court.
Hunter said police enquiries would continue, given the range of property recovered, and he could not rule out further charges for other incidents.
