Fire crews have been able to partially contain a Waitākere Ranges bush fire this evening.
Fire crews were earlier called to the bush fire near Te Aute Ridge Road and Bethells road in Auckland's west about 6pm.
Three helicopters responding, and ground crews accessed the fire after previously being blocked by steep terrain.
Helicopters dropping water on the blaze were expected to leave the area by 8.30pm, but Fire and Emergency said ground crews would remain at the scene overnight.
