The search for a 37-year-old hunter, missing in the Coromandel State Forest Park, has ended with his safe return.

Police said the hunter had walked out of the bush a short distance from where he went in, near Hikutaia.
He had been missing since Thursday, and a search began after he failed to turn up for work on Friday.
