The defending champion Blues women have continued their dominant start to Super Rugby Aupiki, knocking over Matatu 28-7 in Nelson.

Ahead by just seven at the break, the Blues ran in two tries shortly after half-time to effectively seal the deal.

It took twenty minutes before Sylvia Brunt finally broke the staunch Matatu defence.

Brunt was in again just seven minutes later, courtesy of a Dajian Brown offload.

Matatu struck back through Black Fern Hannah King as he side trailed by just seven points at the break.

However, a two-try blitz to Braxton Sorensen-McGee and Atlanta Lolohea just after the break would help the defending champions pull away, Sorensen-McGee's a stunning length of the field effort.

Sparked by a Ruahei Demant break, a searing Sorensen-McGee was looming on Brown's inside and streaked away to score a screamer.

Matatu were unable to muster any second half points, the Blues maintaining their perfect start to the campaign.
