Chiefs Manawa have picked up their first win of the Super Rugby Aupiki season, hammering the Hurricanes Poua 46-7 in Hamilton.

The hosts raced out to a 24-0 lead at the break, and did not relent, nearly notching the half century as they ran in seven tries against the struggling Poua.

Ruby Tui opened the scoring as she found herself unmarked out wide Renee Holmes and Kelly Brazier combining to create space for their winger.

Azalleyah Maaka was next in as Brazier sent her though the line with a deft short ball.

Further first half tries to Jade Coates and Luka Connor gave Manawa a commanding half time advantage, a yellow card to Olioli Mua computing the Poua's woes.

Tui and Holmes combined to kick off the second half scoring, Vici-Rose Green extending the lead with a sixth for Manawa.

Hazel Tubic then sent a pinpoint kick across field, landing on a platter for Tui to bag her brace, Tenika Willison capping things off in the 70th minute.

Poua would get a consolation, Cassie Siataga ensuing her side would leave Hamilton with some points on the board.
