Te Matatini stalls will be powered by an 'event first' using mobile solar energy.
Powerco general manager customer Stuart Dickson said he and the Powerco kaimahi were excited to be providing manaakitanga, and power to those who were heading to the event.
"Connecting with our community is an important part of our kaupapa, and the opportunity to be part of one of the country's largest celebrations of te ao Māori is something we're keen to experience and support," Dickson said.
Last Thursday, Powerco installed the Base Power mobile stand-alone power systems (SAPS) and a mobile solar panel array, known as a 'solar stack.'
What is commonly used to provide power during outages, Base Power business manager Will Buchanan said it would be the first time a SAPS unit and solar stacks was used at an multi-day event.
"It's great seeing the units used to provide energy options for event organisers placing importance on sustainability," Buchanan said.
The hybrid unit uses a 60kWh battery unit with a standard diesel generator designed to be quiet, efficient and sustainable by optimising fuel consumption and reducing emissions.
During Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga, all 140 stalls will be located at the Marketplace area at the top of the Bowl of Brooklands.
Inside the Marketplace, there will be the Kai Village with 26 food stalls and trucks, the Hauora Hub with 20 health care stalls and mobile units offering services, information and health checks, as well as stalls catering for education, government, cultural and creative arts, and Māori businesses.
Powerco will also have a 'rest and recharge' area where people can take a break and charge their devices.
