Deep Seabed Mining

Tuvalu and other nations have joined the call for a precautionary pause on deep sea mining at the International Seabed Authority Assembly meeting in Kingston, Jamaica.

Vanuatu's minister of climate change Ralph Regenvanu at the ISA meeting of the 168 member nations plus the European Union said an environmental policy is "critical".

The NZ Foreign Minister says countries talking about the transition to a green future must understand that "we cannot get there unless...we are engaged in extraction."
