The central question of Verdi's La Traviata is whether true love is worth sacrificing a life of luxury. This is the choice made by the protagonist, Violetta Valéry, who abandons her world as a courtesan to follow her heart in a passionate and ultimately tragic story, made all the more poignant by Verdi's thrilling score.
This live concert recording features the Australasian debut of soprano Luiza Fatyol in the lead role of Violetta Valéry. She performs alongside a wonderful line-up of New Zealand soloists, the Freemasons Foundation NZ Opera Chorus, and the Auckland Philharmonia, all under the baton of Giordano Bellincampi.
