Auckland FC have their first win of their second A-League season, accounting for Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0 in their home-opener at Go Media Stadium.

Striker Jesse Randall provided the only goal of the contest, when he slotted a right-foot effort from the edge of the penalty area in the 22nd minute, guiding it inside the left post.

The Black Knights almost had a second in the dying moments, when Guillermo May beat Western Sydney goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas with a curling left foot, but was denied by the right post.

After a goal-less draw against Melbourne Victory last week, keeper Michael Woud completed another clean sheet and his team sat atop the table for now.

Next Saturday, they host Adelaide United at Go Media Stadium.
